My Week with Marilyn
February 18, 2012
A beautifully slow-paced story with Michelle Williams’s outstanding performance, supported by a group of amazing actors.
After seeing some of Marilyn Monroe’s clips, I truly believe that Michelle Williams successfully captured her elegance and desirability, which is a higher level than physical similarity.
As the other lead, Eddie Redmayne is not impressive even though his character doesn’t require much sophistication. There’s a fine line between being innocent and being dull.
Life Partner is a two-way street. The marriage will never work if you drive your life-partner crazy all the time regardless how much you shine on the stage. On the other hand, quite often, when a man wants something too desirable, thinking about the future is not on his list. Marilyn Monroe is a one of a kind beauty with a tragically absolute destiny.

The Descendants

A sweetly handled sad story with an amazing cast. George Clooney deserves a big one by playing a father who struggles with his love, kids and business at the same time.
Life is surprising and those surprises are usually signs for you. A wise man seeks out what’s more valuable in his life after the graving process and he takes action.
Don’t ever forget your root. It’s interesting that history tells us everything but most of the time, it doesn’t change what we do, not even a little bit.
So want to go to Hawaii sometime.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
February 11, 2012
Extremely detailed cinematography, unnoticeably fitting music and smooth editing, this is another masterpiece with profound story. Not to mention the stunning makeup and splendid performance by Rooney Mara who is incredibly young.
Some religion believes that human are born with sins. Some culture believes that human are naturally kind, on the other hand. Opposite opinions based on the same world. I guess truth is always in perspectives.
There’s an old Chinese saying, a fearless hero can’t pass a beauty. At least in David Fincher’s version, it works with the other gender as well.

The Artist

You don’t realize how much unnecessary dialogue that modern films have until you start watching a silent one.
Dramatic story with dramatic but fitting acting incredibly led by Jean Dujardin(and the dog
), plus modern smooth editing. Silent movie doesn’t mean no play with the sound. In fact, this one successfully used the sound on perfect times which is amazingly engaging for nowadays audience.
The ending could be more memorable though since I was tearing up right before.
